by martin66 » Fri Apr 15, 2011 1:46 pm

Hello,
I've just got an android mobile (motorola defy) and when I try and view the MP4 video that is uploaded to my website I get "this video is not valid for streaming to this device" can anyone advise what to do?
Thanks,
Martin.

Hi Martin,

What application are you trying to view the video files in? If it supports standard mpeg 4 files it should work fine, if not and it is a standard app I can try to get ahold of an android phone to replicate your problem.

Thanks,

Hi Ryan,

I am using the browser supplied with the phone and clicking on an "any object etc etc.mp4" file.

I think possibly its a problem with android 2.1 not supporting flash?

Thanks,

Martin.

Martin,

I just tried this on my HTC Evo Shift 4G (Android 2.2). It worked OK there. I think it might just be that the older version of Android can't read the video files that Vitamin D Video produces... Sorry!

Hi,

I have now got an upgrade to Android 2.2, but sadly I still cannot view the videos. "this video is not valid for streaming to this device" is still the message. Can the video files be created in a different format? Or any other ideas?

Thanks,

Martin.

What program is trying to open the video files to play? I'm not sure if different android phones ship with different video players or not, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.

Hi Ryan,

The program on the phone is called Video Player, I also installed Meridian in the hope that might work, but it doesn't!

Thanks,

Martin.
