JP,
Actually, we have subtly different settings for various Axis cameras, though there certainly are a huge number that are the same (and generally any Axis setting will work for the most part).
For the 241Q settings, for instance, we don't specify the resolution to the camera in the stream path (I think that the many Axis encoders don't support the resolution= option, though I have a note that we didn't actually try it on the 241Q itself). Not specifying the resolution can have some impact on bandwidth used / quality provided. You might want to try one of the other settings to see if you like it better?
One other thing to try if you're adventurous: "Axis (other MPEG-4 - type A)" and "Axis (other MPEG-4 - type B)". The MPEG4 steam from the Axis cameras is quite nice (better quality and less bandwidth), but isn't the default because:
- The image is a little darker (not sure why).
- The MPEG4 is an RTSP stream, which means it doesn't traverse firewalls as well and isn't quite as robust to packet drops (it's optimized for real time, not recording).
Thanks!
