Date/Time stamping

by michele.mapelli » Tue Mar 22, 2011 6:03 am

hello,
first of all I want to thank you for your great software, I'm very satisfied with it.
I'm actually running it with 5 cameras and I'm going to have 20 soon.

I'm interested in having date/time written inside the recorded video.
I realize this feature has already been asked and I'm a little sorry about asking again, but since it would really suit my needs I wanted to try again, maybe you can tell me if you're planning to develop it soon or it's not your priority. :)

thank you in advance for your answer.

michele

I would like to vote for this feature too.

I have been recording video for a few months now, and need to provide framegrabs to the police for a case I have opened.
It would be useful if the software allowed one to optionally to overlay the date/time stamp, both when displaying video in the Search View and when exporting clips.
This approach would avoid any performance impact during the initial recording process, and would give users the option to even overlap the timestamp on existing video recorded before this feature were added.

Thanks for an awesome program.

I would also expect you to add this feature ASAP as the video is a complete waste in a court of law :( . If all you want to do is let you see whats going on but are willing to accept that is in not usable in court to prosecute then ok. Since this is the case, I feel that you should prominently post on your home page that this software can not be used for legal use in a court of law. As a business owner who has had this tested in court, BE WARNED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The very first objection made by the attorney and upheld by the judge was THAT the lack of time and date stamping made the video too questionable to use in court. CASE AND MONEY LOST!!!!!!! HONESTLY, HOW COULD ANY "SURVEILLANCE" SOFTWARE NOT HAVE TIME AND DATE STAMPING? :?:

ACK! I didn't notice that it didn't have date/time stamping when I was playing with it last year. I can see where VDV would provide adequate evidence on a personal level, but not on a legal level.

I purchased VDV Basic, but ended up getting a Swan system shortly thereafter on an excellent sale. But since the quality of recordings is {fertilizer} I'm going to sell the Swan and put together a PC-based system. The detection features of VDV are outstanding, but I need to make sure that whatever I record can be used in court if need be.

Maybe that's one of the things they'll improve if/when they're ever able to devote time to the project. Unfortunately, my needs are kinda now-ish (next few weeks), so I'll have to look into other solutions rather than upgrading to VDV Pro.

I would like to also like to see this feature in vitamind. It's hard to really make a case for using vitamind as "serious" security software without this feature. BTW, I'm a paid customer (basic license) but am now looking at other options since this key feature is missing.

I also need date/time stamping, but from what I have read and what I have seen, this is a dead product. Its a shame, as I own a security company specializing in home security and I would have liked to recommend this product to my customers, but without support and bug fixes there is no way i can.
