Viewing video over the internet

by emergent » Sat Oct 02, 2010 6:18 pm

Currently, I am using Security Spy to record video while I'm out of my condo. I can't set it up to just record motion, because I have a couple of dogs that are always running around. I am able to remotely view the video on my iphone on the internet, or my preferred method, through Remote Patrol. My question is, can I connect Vitamin D to that feed so I record the video through Vitamin D when a person is in view, but still be able to connect to the camera over the internet or on my iPhone?

It sounds like you're using an IP camera? If that is the case you should be able to connect to it from as many sources as you'd like, Vitamin D Video included, as long as your network has sufficient bandwidth. Hope that helps!

I found an alternative way if you have an Android phone or iPhone with FTP app. I use Vitamin D to save my videos (only records when rule is triggered) to an almost-free FTP site at Transferum.com. There's an Android app called AndFTP that lets you login to the ftp server and download the video. From there I can watch it. I wish it was simpler but it's better than nothing.

Transferum.com ,nice find but not almost-free LOL
This may be good for me, -ie for a managed services mthly fee since I am setting up FTP file transfers for clients, who could never figure it out
