For people looking for iPhone integration of Vitamin D event-triggered videos, I have found a very workable solution using the iPhone AirVideo software [available for Mac or PC]. I am running everything on the same host, although this could be off-loaded to another machine:
1. Install an FTP server, such as Filezilla (
http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=server ), create your shared directory and user accounts. This is necessary, even if saving to localhost, as FTP is currently the only option offered by Vitamin D for automatically exporting event videos.
2. Install AirVideo (
http://www.inmethod.com/air-video ). The server is free, the iPhone client is $2.99 although there is a free, limited trial version. Point this to share the same directory as the FTP server and enable remote access.
3. Create an event trigger in Vitamin D and set it to save a copy of the video to FTP. Point it to your FTP server [localhost].
4. Install and launch the iPhone AirVideo client and point it to your server by entering the PIN provided on the remote settings page of AirVideo. As videos are saved to your FTP server, they will appear in the listing in AirVideo.
You can also share Vitamin D's main "archive" folder through Air Video for access to all recorded video, however it is fairly difficult to navigate and doesn't offer a search.
If you have more than one event you wish to record, you can use separate subfolders on your FTP server to keep them organized.
Since Vitamin D only offers one set of FTP settings, this method will not work if you are already using that [unless, of course, you're able to also install an AirVideo server on the machine with the existing FTP server].
AirVideo is capable of on-the-fly transcoding of video into an iPhone-optimized format, producing fairly good results even over a 3G data connection.
