Hi,
I am running Vitamin D 1.4.2 build 6168 on my Macbook Retina with Mountain Lion.
Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I have had problems with my Retina going to sleep and shutting down the wifi, despite that Vitamin D is still running and needs the wifi to record the video clips. This problem is not isolated to Vitamin D - it is a problem with Mountain Lion:
"In Mountain Lion, OS X no longer pays attention to disk activity when deciding if it's OK to put the system to sleep. Instead, Apple recommends that applications make what Apple calls "power assertions" as a way to tell the OS when they're doing some useful work that the system should stay awake for. This policy allows the OS to put the system to sleep the moment there are no applications still holding power assertions to prevent the action."
Unfortunately this means that pretty much all applications (including Vitamin D) are being ignored for their wifi use when the system checks whether it should put the computer (and wifi) to sleep. Mac programs like Safari have this "power assertion" rule and are able to keep the wifi running - so this can be used to avoid downloads shutting down. However, programs like Vitamin D will lose wifi connectivity whenever the mac tries to go to sleep.
Are you able to offer a fix for this problem? It may be that you need to release a Vitamin D update that uses this "power assertions" to let Mountain Lion know that it needs to keep the wifi on while Vitamin D is running and using it.
Thanks
Fiona
