Recording stutters

by rolling » Thu Oct 11, 2012 6:57 am

I have an Asus all-in-one with built-in webcam of 2011 ... When I use it at 640x480 resolution does not give me problems and it's fine ... but it is too blurry ...
I want to use the resolution 1024x768 .. but every time that the registration is required shots. What can I do to fix it?
The webcam is an ASUS USB 2.0.
thanks

Hi rolling,

"ma ogni volta che la imposto la registrazione va a scatti"/"but every time that the registration is required shots", I'm afraid I don't understand this translation.

I assume you are having stuttering or slowness when running at the higher resolution? If that is so you might want to run task manager and see how much CPU is being used when you increase the resolution. 1024x768 has 2.5 as many pixels as 640x480, which will roughly have a 2.5x increase in requirements for processing, disk I/O, and so on. It is possible that with whatever else is running on your system you do not have enough CPU/RAM/other resources to process the higher resolution?

This is just a guess based on the translation.

You might also want to set your camera to stream at 10 fps (frames per second) if possible. VDV only requires 10fps, but if it receives more must still process and decode them even if it will not use them. This could cause unnecessary CPU overhead.
