Video Servers

Hi there,

I am looking to implement a solution based on Vitamin D, to record from 2 analogue cameras that currently run off a regular DVR.

Can anyone recommend any reasonably priced video servers that I can use to achieve this please? I have noticed that with video servers, there appear to be lots of "cheap" devices about that don't work very well, and I am trying to avoid that!

Here are a low end option for price sensitive folks:

And a higher end option for those more quality-sensitive than price sensitive:

Axis 241Q video encoder

Both of these work with Vitamin D Video. There are a lot of lower end options, but I'd caution folks to test them out before assuming that they work.

Could someone elaborate on how to set up the Axis 241Q. I own one and in setting up VD, I was only able to access the first feed. I would like to know how to add the cameras attached to ports on the server to be accessed independently from one another via VD.

I assume you have a license that supports more than 1 camera.....
If so, during the setup, after selecting 'Axis' as the manufacturer, select 'Manually specify the address of a network camera', then under Camera type, there are 4 choices for the Axis 241Q, one for each port. Even though I have the older Axis 2400 video server, these selections let me select and access each of the 4 cameras I have attached to my Axis server.
