Hauppauge Wintv 418 Video Capture

by Dorkygrin » Sun Dec 05, 2010 8:18 pm

Can't get Vitamin D to recognize my capture card input. Using Windows 7 X64. I get video with various other programs including Yawcam and Amcap. Selecting "Hauppauge WinTV 418 Video Camera" says 'Connecting' then 'could not connect'.

Any ideas of what to try?

Thanks!

DG,

Is this the starter edition? It is possible that the driver for the video capture is having trouble when we request video at 320x240. Can you try that resolution in Amcap and see if you get similar problems?

Also: make sure no other programs are accessing the camera while Vitamin D tries to access it.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply Doug,

Yes, starter edition. Would like to add more inputs if I can get this particular card to work.

I checked in Amcap but can't see where to change the resolution. In the Amcap options menu, Video Capture Pin, Output Size, there is only one option available and it is 720 x 480.

Anyone else seeing an issue like this?

Thanks

DG,

Looking under the "Video Capture Pin" is the right place to look. Hmm, so only 720 x 480 is there? We should be using that one then. Hrmmmmm. I'm not sure I have any good ideas, unless there is some other program trying to access it at the same time as VDV and that is confusing things. The only other thing I can think of is to try upgrading or downgrading the drivers that came with it.
