Only Receiving Sub Stream

I have rebranded Hikvision cams, and only seem to be able to connect through the RTSP and thats okay as I want to keep my existing NVR. However, I notice when sampling the person detection, its not picking up stuff further out and I believe its because I can only view sub stream. I cant seem to get the main stream to work, any ideas?
