Remote App stopped working!

by cdolciamore » Fri Mar 16, 2018 7:16 pm

For some unknown reason, all of a sudden I can no longer connect with the remote Sighthound Video App.
I'm on Android 8.1.0 but no recent updates or changes to my phone and it's the latest Sighthound App from Google Play. Just to be sure I logged out of the App, changed my password on the Sighthound Server and tried logging in with an older Android phone and still can't sign in. I'm aware only one remote app can connect at a time and I'm sure that I'm the only one trying (ran netstat -a and there are no uninvited "guests"). The only thing that does work is opening the link on the same computer that's running Sighthound. So unless this can be fixed, I'll have to set up RDP to my Windows 10 Sighthound Server or something similar. Very Frustrating and inconvenient... Did something change on Sighthound's side? I'm running Pro Edition 5.1.6 build 17335. Sighthound is still functioning with the exception that I cannot connect remotely whether on the same network in my own house or over my vpn from another location which up until this morning was all working OK. The connectivity was typically slow but this is the first time I've ever failed to connect. Please help! Thank you.

Hello,

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues connecting to Remote Access. If you're able to access the web access from the same machine but not from another computer on the same local network it indicates that Sighthound Video remote access is properly configured and running, but that something between the app and your remote browsers is blocking the traffic. This would either be some sort of firewall or security software on the machine running Sighthound Video or something on your router if it does filtering. A good start is to check if the port is actually open in your network which can be done by entering the port at the link below:

https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

If that says that the port is closed however the port is open through your router, there might be a firewall that is blocking/filtering traffic. Have you added the Sighthound Video, Sighthound Agent, Sighthound Web, and Sighthound XNAT applications to your firewall exception rules. If not, you will need to do that. You can find more information about this at the link below:

https://www.sighthound.com/support/fire ... gs-windows

If that doesn't work, can you please click Help > Report a Problem. This will send us over all of your logs. Before sending them, you should try to connect to remote access first just so it is fresh in the logs.

We will be standing by for your reply, thank you!

Regards,
-Kevin
