Mobile alert notificaitons off-line

by angryfatcat » Sat Mar 03, 2018 9:18 pm

Without any user input, alerts on all our mobile devices have been disabled and push notification has been turned off. When we try to turn on push notifications on multiple devices we get a message saying "Failed registering for push notifications". We've retried restarting our mobile devices as well as the Mac that is currently running sighthound. Mobile notifications are enabled for our rules and everything else is working fine (like email notification).

Are you running a service to handle push notifications? Is that service down or having issues?

Hello,

We do run a service for mobile notification and it seems as if it did go down yesterday. It should be back up now. Are you still experiencing this issue? I was able to test this out just now and it was working. If it is still failing for you, can you please click Help > Report a Problem on the machine that is running Sighthound?

Regards,
-Kevin

I was, for a while. But once again I'm not and togging push notifications on my device times out. So it looks like your service is still having issues.

If you are going to run a service that people rely on for important things like notifications on security cameras, you really need to broadcast to your user base that your service is down. Otherwise people are assuming their cameras are running fine and there are no issues that they need to be aware of.

It's things like this, and other obvious no brainers like being able to gracefully recover from network glitches that might temporarily disconnect their SMB or AFP storage that are making me seriously consider moving away from sighthound.

Oh, and I did report the issue using the app, and I received an email that asked me for information on what device I was using. Apparently you all are not aware that when you report an issue using the app, it automatically appends the app version, sighthound version, iOS version, and device.

Im experiencing the exact same issue. Notifications are off-line and I cannot enable them.

Tells me - Registering device for notifications ... then failed registration for push notifications.

Any ideas?
