How to gracefully recover from a sudden power off?

by nunuvyurbiz » Wed Feb 28, 2018 2:52 pm

If SH doesn't exit gracefully, such as in the case with a sudden power off, when it comes back online it stops with a dialog box asking something (I think it was something about removing or trying to recover the footage that was suddenly cut off). This means that when it restarts, it will not continue recording/analyzing without user intervention.

Is there a way to avoid having to intervene in that situation? For example, before SH starts up again, run a script to look for and rename certain files? Or delete certain files? I don't need the actual script - I just need to know what it should look for and do. I can then build it in Hazel, Automator, or something. [Mac]

Hello,

We are sorry to hear that you encountered an issue when restarting Sighthound after a crash. Unless something critical to the application was damaged the app would still be recording. If this happens again, can you please take a screenshot of the dialog box? It would be good to send in any Crash reports or click Help > Report a Problem which will send us your Sighthound logs.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns besides that, thank you!

Regards,
-Kevin
