Hikvision 4K

by millenios » Mon Sep 25, 2017 5:15 am

Hi, I have just purchased a DS-2CD2185FWD-IS 4K IP cam which I set up with the Hikvision software no problem.
However with Sighthound I needed to set the camera up manually. I have 3 other Hikvision cameras which I have set up in the past without issue. I'm also experiencing problems with the motion detection, its recording 20 min files if a car passes the camera. Previously I used a 1080p Hikvision camera in the same location without issue.
I assume the camera is not supported or fully supported by Sighthound, can you advise if this is the case & if the camera will be better supported in the future?

Many Thanks.

Hi Millenios,

I'm sorry to hear you're having troubles with these cameras. Cameras only appear in the pre-configured list in Sighthound Video once we, or a customer, have confirmed the proper settings to connect. If you could provide us with the stream settings you used to connect to these camera's we'll be happy to add them to a future update.

As for the other issue - are you seeing a 20 minute clip in the search view when reviewing your clips? Is this while selecting a clip from the list, or dragging around the timebar at the bottom of the page?

Regards,

-Devin

Hi Devin,

Thanks for the response I am also in conversation with Alex (sighthound) re these issues.
Performing a clean install of sighthound seems to have fixed the random 20 min clips however the Hikvison DS-2CD2185FWD-I(S) camera is still a problem.
I'm using the generic MPeg 4 or Other IP cam setting to try and connect which seems to work for a while then lose connection (note if I go to the cam web link or use the Hikvision software the cam is online) I'm relatively new to using IP cams so it's also likely I am missing an obvious fix. My previous 3 Hikvison cameras have just connected via the add cam set up and stayed connected. Is it possible the camera is faulty?

Any idea would be appreciated this is the main cam on the front of my house so key.

Hi millenios,

The next time this camera loses it's connection please send us a bug report by going to Help > Report a Problem so we can take a look at your logs. In the meantime, do you see warning icons in Sighthound Video while the camera is connected or while it's losing it's connection? (see https://www.sighthound.com/support/perf ... nitor-view)

As an update, I am still having problems with the 4K camera.. it does still seem to lose connection from time to time, playback is slow (specifically the 4k clips) often resulting in a blank/black area in the replay window, going from clip to clip is tedious and slow taking approx. 1-3 secs before play back of the next clip starts then as above sometimes a blank screen.

Plan to perform a clean install (Win 10 fall CU) at some stage or possibly Windows server essentials 2016 so I will see if this helps.

Will also be trialling new software to see if this makes a difference (and to make use of my 3rd cam ;0)

Still having problems can anyone suggest their setup in case I am doing something wrong?
Basic issue is playback is not smooth, searching and playback of files is still painfully slow

System
Running 2 Hikvision Cams DS-2CD2185FWD-I (4K) & DS-2CD2142FWD-I (1080p) on a Win 10 based PC/server
PC is always running the latest OS & Sighthound updates. Asus Hero Z97 board 128GB Samsung m.2 drive for the OS Intel 4790K CPU with 32GB of Ram 8 x WD 4TB hard drives dedicated 4TB WD Purple drive for the Camera. I remote desktop into the machine to check the clips etc. via a 24 port Gigabit switch both PC's have a quad port gigabit NIC (all ports connected) but have the same performance issue if I view direct. I have performed a total clean installation of the OS & Sighthound still the same issue... I'm totally confused, I see people running several cams on the same type of systems without issue... Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
