Duplicate Clips

by JustinScott » Sun Sep 03, 2017 2:24 pm

New Paid/Pro user, and I need some help tuning the amount of clips it generates.

For each of my cameras, I'm capturing the moments that I'm expecting. However, each each 'event' records between 2 and 5 clips that are basically the same. Each clip is starting slightly offset from the others in the set, each clip overlaps, and ends at different times.

Example issue:
Rule: People at back door
Look for:
- People
- Ignore objects smaller than 70px
That Are:
- Entering 'my region'

This morning, this filter captured two clips of me coming home. Each clip is basically identical, but I do notice that each clip started the boundary box differently. Attached is, for each clip, the first frame which showed the boundary box.

It seems that the system is recognizing me and my dog and capturing each of us come home. Ideally, it should consider this the same moment and group it all together.

Hi JustinScott,

When using Entering/Exiting or a boundary, Sighthound will create a clip and trigger whatever response is selected for the rule for each object that enters/exits the scene or crosses the boundary. Because these are immediate responses, Sighthound doesn't have time to think and see what happens with the new objects.

If you'd like to send the complete clip to [email protected] I'll be happy to see if there are any changes to your rules that we think may help. In the meantime, this article has some general tips for when you are receiving too many clips - https://www.sighthound.com/support/its- ... many-clips

Regards,

-Devin

Thank you.

What rules do not generate a clip for each object that trips the rule? I will work with any clips that combine the alerts in time.

Hi JustinScott,

It's hard to say exactly without seeing the full clip you're referring to, but Inside/Outside regions likely will yield better results for your case.
