Still on Sighthound 4....

by flynreelow » Tue Jul 18, 2017 8:46 pm

Still on the older Sighthound, and about the time 5.0 was released, I no longer get app notifications on my phone. S7 Verizon.

I have deleted rules, and started fresh with new rules...

I have changed ip and port forwarding port.

I have fixed permissions on the MAC

I have rebooted the computer, and the Galaxy S7 phone.

I made sure sighthound app was able to accept notifications (which it what)

What else can I be looking for?

Does this mean that you've received a push notification?

Push messages are outbound from your computer so it should be unaffected by any port forwarding or firewall setups, unless you've blocked outgoing traffic.

* Has your phone recently experienced any OS updates?
* Have you tried disabling and re-enabling notifications within the android app?
* Are other responses firing for the rule that has push notifications configured?

Ryan
Thanks for the post.

I have tried everything. I have reset all of my rules, and they seem to be working on my Mac. They show up under sighthound when I search for them. But whatever i do, I cant get them to push notication to my phone. My verizon Galaxy s7 hasnt recieved any new update, it seems to be when you implemented 5.0 I started having trouble. My port forwarding is working fine, as I can live view, and look at older footage from my phone. But, i never get notified of a new rule being broken?

What else can I look for to get this back up and running. There is no way Im spending another 160-190 on the 5.0.

Your support and upgrades subscription is less than a year behind, to make your basic license compatible with 5.0 would be $12.

That being said, you should only update to 5.0 if you want, nobody has suggested that as a fix for your push notifications, and indeed there were no functional changes to push notifications between the two.

Push notifications are relatively distinct from any remote access. A small message is sent from your computer to the cloud and google or apple send this to your android or iphone respectively.

Reasons push notifications may not work include:

* The app does not have permissions to receive notifications on your phone. This would be controlled in your phone settings.
* The phone was somehow lost from the cloud servers. Disabling and re-enabling within the phone app would restore this.
* The rule is not firing on events for some reason.

To test the latter I would encourage you to enable a sound rule and ensure that the message is firing. If it is but push notifications are not submit a bug report from "Help->Report a Problem".

just sent a Help-- Report a problem.

Hope you can find something in the background.

Also, thanks for letting me know its only $12. Seems like a much better deal!
