App Issues

by Gavin-991 » Wed Apr 05, 2017 11:05 am

Hi, I having just installed an IP camera I have downloaded the trial of this software to get clip recordings should anything be detected overnight having tried it the clips work on the PC which is great however I don't really want to leave this on 24/7

The phone app (Android) is ideal with its notifications, however, I can't get logged in I've gone into the settings both on my broadband hub (UK)and enabled remote access I've then gone to set it up via the remote access page but it fails to connect

Is this something which is disabled with the trial or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance

Quick question do I need to have my PC on 24/7 to access the camera through my phone? I tried to get on the app when the camera was set to work but it kept saying the server is unreachable at this time

Hello Gavin-991,

The PC must be on and not in sleep mode in order for Sighthound to run. This includes recording your camera footage and connecting remotely, as everything is run locally on your computer.

Thanks, I'm going to set it up on a laptop as they use less power thank a desktop and set it to auto shut down shortly after recording stops

Hi all, I have got the software all set up on a laptop and it's working fine, however, I'm having a nightmare trying to get the app working on the remote access page I have 2 addresses local and internal having tried to enter both on my phone along with the username and password it just refuses point blank to connect

Whilst I'm happy with this software on the PC the app I'm not happy with as this was the one reason I spent around £50 on this

Can anyone help me get this working?

Hi Gavin,

First step would be to make sure that you can access those pages from the PC running Sighthound Video.

If that is working but the "Internal address:" url isn't able to from a phone or PC on the same network then it is likely that a firewall on the Sighthound Video machine is blocking incoming connections and you need to add an exception. The following links should be helpful in that regard:
