Seeing dog as a person?

by nasell » Tue Mar 28, 2017 11:41 am

I have a couple of high-resolution cameras that are set up to detect people only, but I'm getting multiple hits for our dogs in the backyard, and one cat that came into view in our front yard.

You can clearly see four legs, so I'm not sure if the algorithm has just never learned that four legs = not human, or if there is some other issue to squelch these false hits.

Anyone have any experience here? Can I submit the video to sighthound so they can use machine learning and determine that these aren't people?

I have similar issues. Dogs, distant cars, lens flare from headlights, floodlights, lightning, etc are so often mistaken for humans that I've had to turn off all "person" rules and just use Sighthound as a regular security DVR. Most of my cameras are lower-res units so I thought that might be the reason, but you noting that it also happens with your hi-res cameras makes me wonder...

Mine often flags dogs and cats as people. I don't mind it since it's usually pretty entertaining!
