D-link cloud cameras?

by Johannes_L » Sat Mar 18, 2017 5:25 pm

Hello,

Does anyone have experience on the D-link could cameras and Sighthound? E.g DCS-8200LH. The camera is interesting, because it has 180 degree visibility. However, the user manual (which is actually not so easy to find) does not tell anything about external URL -based video stream support. Surprisingly the documentation does not mention the username/password either. Seems to be so that it's only for the iPhone/Android application. And the D-link account seems to be mandatory for the camera to work.

I don't have experience in D-link cameras nor their cloud interworking. I hope, my conclusions are wrong?

Hello,

A note that I got a reply from D-link that this particular camera is having access only through D-link cloud. Not through directly any URL and therefore not supposed with apps like Sighthound.

Be careful, when you purchase cameras. Also something to think about for Sighthound in the future. If the trend from the major camera manufactures is to offer cloud services only....
