Update process - crashes completely

by kmpowell » Sun Mar 12, 2017 11:56 am

When I first downloaded SH and got my license, it was on 4.0.1.

Since purchase I have had two software update advisories flash up. Back in Feb for 4.0.2 and this week for 4.0.3. On both occasions if I try to Install the update, it downloads, then a message comes up saying "closing sighthound video, just a moment". It then crashes/closes the entire programme, and nothing happens. When I start SH up again it comes up with the update advisory and the cycle starts again.

I'm using macOS Sierra 10.12.3.

Help?

4.0.2 contained a fix for an auto-update conflict introduced in macOS 10.12. Future updates will install as expected but you'll need to manually install 4.0.2 or 4.0.3 first. You can find the latest installer by visiting https://www.sighthound.com/download

Thanks - the manual update worked. I was worried I'd lose all my settings but they seem to have been retained.
