MINIMUM camera resolution

by Landofmichael » Fri Feb 24, 2017 11:07 pm

The new FLIR TCX Thermal cameras have a resolution of 80 x 45. Will sighthound work at this resolution if set up to avoid false alarms triggered by unusually hot items such as hot cars, meteorites,... my wife?

80x45 is quite small and while Sighthound Video should be able to record from it I'm afraid it wouldn't be able to detect anything. Surely your wife deserves a higher resolution...

Most importantly, even with a high resolution thermal camera I can't really give an answer as to how things would work. If it displays as a red to blue heatmap we have not trained or tested our engine on such images. It's very possible depending on the scene that objects would be tracked as expected, but people may look sufficiently different that the classification accuracy would be very low.

The suggested minimum requirement for video stream resolution is 320x240.
