Arlo and other consumer grade cameras

by Walt Dockery » Mon Feb 13, 2017 5:03 pm

Does anyone know if the popular consumer grade cameras work with sighthound?

I believe some, like Nest, don't give you any access to the stream. The camera I am looking at most closely is the Netgear Arlo, they have various models, some that use a proprietary base station (Arlo Pro) and some that use wifi or POE (Alro Q Plus). Does anyone know if Sighthound can tap into the streams for these?

First, please see my recent post on the same topic at topic11949#p18334

If there are more recent Arlo cameras that operate contrary to this method we would be glad to, and mostly likely already do, support them. Sighthound Video will record from any video stream it can access. Certain cameras like Nest and Arlo lock users into their ecosystem and do not support general access. If there is any camera which exposes a video stream (can be access by any application or media player such as quicktime/media player/VLC) which does not function in Sighthound Video we absolutely consider this a bug and will work with you to fix the issue.
