Use sighthound cameras as motion sensors for Apple Homekit

Hey everyone. I thought I would put up a post as i have found a way to use sighthound sensors as motion sensors in Apple Homekit. To do this you will need to run homebridge on a local computer and install the smtpsensor plugin. The smtpsensor will set up a local SMTP server that will parse emails sent to it for certain keywords and use those keywords to simulate a motion sensor.

first, install homebridge: https://github.com/nfarina/homebridge

next install homebridge-smtpsensor: https://github.com/SphtKr/homebridge-smtpsensor

note that there is an issue with the install of smtpsensor. See this page for the correction: https://github.com/SphtKr/homebridge-sm ... r/issues/3

Add the following code to your homebridge config.json customizing for your cameras:

Once that is complete set up sighthound to send notification emails to the local IP address of the computer hosting your homebridge server. put in any random email to send from and any random email to send to. Use port 2525 with no authentication information.

Thanks for posting a new idea. In laymen's terms, can you explain what functionality you now have? I don't understand.
