Foscam help!

by TVWriterguy » Wed Jan 25, 2017 8:54 pm

Hi, I am inept when it comes to technology. Long story short, I have a Foscam mode: FI8918W which has been unplugged for awhile. I recently got a new TP-LINK router and now I have no idea how to get the camera and router to connect and for Sighthound to recognize it. It used to work perfectly! I need to do this via WPS as the plug and wire have been cemented into my garage wall. Even when I press reset on the Foscam and WPS on the TP-Link, nothing happens. I deleted the camera from Sighthound but it still cannot find it.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Hello TVWriterguy,

I'm afraid I don't have access to that specific model, but you should be able to connect this camera to Sighthound after the initial network setup. Do you still have the installation guide or Foscam software installed? You will need to follow their setup first to get it on the network. Usually this involves connecting the camera to the router with an ethernet cable, then logging on to the camera and enabling WiFi. If you haven't already changed the default admin password we highly recommend doing so.

Here is a quick installation guide for this camera from Foscam: https://foscam.us/media/mconnect_upload ... 0guide.pdf

Here's our guide for installing a network camera: https://www.sighthound.com/support/sett ... era-manual

Hi, Devin. Thanks so much for your response. I'd love to reset it manually from my computer, but as I said the power cord is kind of cemented through the wall of my house to the garage so I can't remove it! Ugh! I still have all the disks, software, etc. WPS would have been so convenient but the TP-LINK router can't find the camera even after I press reset on the camera to send out the signal. I am at a total loss as to what to do. Foscam's website looks like it hasn't been updated in many years and most help links are dead.

Anyone have any thoughts? What am I doing wrong?

Got the cam down. Plugged it into Router and then the wall for power (as per the instructions). Click on the software and I get the following: Subnet doesn't match. When I double click to change it, it either says illegal gateway or Incorrect User or Password. From all the documentation, the user is "admin" and password is left blank. What am I doing wrong???

Anyone? Please? Again, I got the camera down finally and have it ready for set up but for some reason it is not allowing me to do it.

Hello TVWriterguy,

If you the setup process isn't going as the Foscam instructions describe you may want to do a factory settings restore on the camera so you can start over with the default settings.

Please send us a bug report by going to Help > Report a Problem so we can take a look at your logs and continue troubleshooting with the initial camera setup.
