New User Setup

by g60jet » Wed Jan 25, 2017 10:38 am

Hi All,

I've been recommended Sighthound video for my CCTV system so i was looking at a complete set up for here in the UK

I looking at 1 bullet Camera and 2 domes.
Running them on a Mac mini with 1TB Hard drive 1.6 processor 16GB ram

2x Foxcam FI9961EP
1x Foscam FI9900P Wireless
NETGEAR GS308P 8-Port Desktop Gigabit PoE Switch w/ 4x PoE Ports (53W)

Do I need anything else besides cables and are these cameras any good with sighthound video.

I dont really need the footage storing longer than 3 weeks.

Are mac minis reliable to keep running

Any input would be great.

thanks

Our experience with mac minis has been good, and that is certainly enough horsepower to cover three cameras.

We have not used those camera models and so cannot provide specific feedback there. My general recommendation for cameras is to reviews on amazon or other, particularly the negatives, and see if there are prominent issues and whether those issues are relevant to your use case. Also good to visit the manufacturer's site if there is one to see if it is receiving support post-release or not.
