Export video clips

by NicoleW78 » Wed Jan 11, 2017 12:57 pm

I am using Sighthound Video Starter Edition. Since I updated to 4.0.1 I am unable to export video clips. All I get is a black video. Will going back to the older version fix this? Will I lose the video clips if I do so? Thank you for your help.

Hello Nicole,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue with exported clips. Please send us a bug report immediately after exporting a clip by going to Help > Report a Problem so we can take a look at your logs. If you could also email the exported clip to [email protected], we'd like to take a look at the file. In both the report and email please include a link to this forum post so we know they all are from you.

Regards,

-Devin

Hi Nicole,
I'm not sure this is the same problem but I mention it anyway.
I cannot play exported clips with Windows Mediaplayer on a Win7/64bit desktop: black screen.
But I also have another mp4 player: DIVX. Opening an exported clip with DIVX I get the message: "video is not supported using Media Foundation decoding". DIVX has a setting "disable Media Foundation decoding", and when ticked the exported clips play normally.

VLC is a great media player on any OS that will be compatible with just about any file you can ever find.

Exported clips should play with the native media players on macOS and Windows 8 and newer, but Windows 7 users may need to install additional video codecs or use a separate player such as VLC.

Thanks for the tip Ryan, VLC does the job right out of the box.
