Android IP Web Cam Quality

by sleep_debt » Tue Jan 03, 2017 2:52 pm

I've been using a Nexus 5 w/ Android Web Cam installed and I've noticed an issue with lag/ghosting. All movement on screen has video trails, even when I check the recorded files. Is there a setting (in the IP Web Cam app) to help fix this?

Don't know anything specific about the Nexus 5 Android Web Cam, but I have had MANY cheap Web Cams that smear motion. Most would work reasonably well in VERY bright scenes, but anything less than full sunshine just doesn't work well. Cars on the street at night are just a long white streak followed by a long red streak. Even using them as a "vision phone" was poor and difficult to watch because it was unable to show the person's mouth moving without it just being a blur.

It has to do with the image sensor of the camera itself... nothing can be done about it in any part of the system on this side of the lens, just make sure it is a very brightly lit scene.

Weird, I figured the N5 would have enough of a sensor since it can do 1080p video. I guess not. The room its in is pretty well lit (many windows, sky lights), too.
