Timestamp option in Version 4.0?

by Holmium » Sun Jan 01, 2017 4:20 am

I've noticed the timestamp is missing in my video and when I go into the edit camera wizard, Add timestamp overlay to recorded video is no longer there for either of my two cameras.

Build 4.0 build 16721. Win 10 x64.

Hi Holmium,

Due to many of the architecture changes in Sighthound Video 4.0 timestamps are not burned into the incoming stream itself so this is no longer a setting on the camera's configuration. However, you can still opt for timestamps in all places where you would view or store video and can control this on a more fine grained level.

* When viewing clips or the live view the application the time is show directly under the video windows themselves, near the seek bar in the search view and above the rule list in the monitor view.
* When exporting videos there is a checkbox option to add timestamps.
* For remote access timestamp overlay can be enabled in the advanced section of the remote access preferences. This currently only applies to remote clips and not the live view, but this will be fixed in an upcoming 4.0.1 release.

Thanks for the reply Ryan. Glad to know it's still there if I need it.

I relied on this feature. I upgrade and lose a feature. :(

What functionality were you relying on? You should have access to time information in every viewing scenario as well as the ability to export clips with timestamp overlays if they are needed to share outside of the system. If there is a use case we have missed we'll be glad to consider it in future updates.

When there is part of an event, for instance someone walking in to frame, the software does not pick up the whole walk because it was too small to begin with. Or breaks it up in to mulitple events, say because they walked behind a tree. So I refer to the raw files. I have this method down-pat. It becomes more difficult when comparing a complex event using the raw files over two or more cameras, to see if they are related in time. Seeing the timestamp helps me to see the co-ordination of two events from two cameras coming together as one event but could be on two cameras still. Confusing, I know. Hard to explain.

In short, I need the timestamp on the raw files to see a situation down to the second.

Right now, despite the upgrades of performance and others of this version. I need to go back to the previous version. How do i download the older version?

I back-purchased the subscription. I understand why you do it. But now I have "wasted" my money losing a feature I relied on. It was a tick box to enable it anyway.

Hope you understand where Im coming from.

thanks for the link and the refund offer. I will keep supporting you guys. So will just use the previous version for now. (That link only shows me version 4.04, how can I download the older version?)

Unless you guys consider putting that feature back, I will have to code some post production timestamp myself.

I've attached a screenshot highlighting the previous version link. If this link isn't present for you please try temporarily disabling any browser extensions or using a different browser and let us know - we're not aware of any incompatibilities but we'll fix any that may exist.
