vstar cam c42

by cdmills67 » Fri Dec 23, 2016 2:07 pm

I am trying out the software to see if i want the pro version. I got a vstarcam c42 on amazon and the software with it is terrible. I was able to hook sighthound to my outdoor camera, so I know the software works in general. However, I cannot get it hooked to the rstp on this camera. The url of rtsp://myIP:10554/udp/av0_0 works fine in VLC, so I know the camera is working in general. I tried everything in the manual camera setup and sighthound just sticks to "connecting...". Any advice on whether it can work? Thanks.

Hello cdmills67,

I'm sorry to hear you're having troubles connecting this camera to Sighthound Video. Please submit a bug report by going to Help > Report a Problem so we can take a look at your logs. Be sure to have the camera added, even if it is not connected. Also include a link to this forum post so we know it is from you.

Regards,

-Devin

I have a VStarcam C7824WIP and also having trouble with the RTSP. My RTSP URL is the same:

rtsp://xxx.xxx.x.xx:10554/udp/av0_0

I am going to do the "Help > Report a Problem" to send my logs as Devin suggested.

In the meanwhile I will just connect using http (although that failed to run through the whole ngiht last night - which is why I want to try RTSP instead).

cdmills67, does http work on you cam? Eg.

http://xxx.xxx.x.xx:81/videostream.cgi?user=[USER]&pwd=[PASSWORD]

I still can only connect with http to my VStarcam C7824WIP.

I still cannot connect using rtsp.

Hi Exuma,

I have a few questions to better understand your setup:

* Are you able to connect to this camera using http?

* Have you tried connecting using ONVIF? (see https://www.sighthound.com/support/onvif-camera-setup)

RTSP and ONVIF may need to first be enabled on the camera's configuration web page. You should be able to reach this page by entering the camera's IP address into a web browser.

Regards,

-Devin
