That is the only way I know of to use SH to high-speed view a lot of video. Since I don't use the remote features I cannot answer if it works remotely. I suspect that the remote feature would be inherently slow anyway so I doubt if it would work well. And like I noted, it is skipping ahead 2 seconds each time, not showing any frames during that period, so things can occur that you won't have a chance of seeing.
The principals of SH monitor all the forums and will see this, but there is a forum section specifically for "Feature Requests" that you could post to, just to keep that specific subject in one thread where others could post "+1"'s to it if they agree and keep this thread just for suggestions/comments about work-arounds, until such an enhancement is implemented.
As a note: Some computer systems are not capable of doubling the number of frames per second to double the speed of viewing, so to speed it up you have to skip frames. I don't know how SH does it, but skipping frames is risky if there are very short events that occur in the skipped frame(s). The frame rate of the display adapter has a lot to do with that.
Besides, even if SH tried to pump out twice as many frames per second, the display adapter is just going to read the frame buffer (memory) and draw the screen, then read the buffer again and draw the screen... at whatever rate it does it. The buffer could be written a dozen times during the interval between reads/outputs and only the last one will be seen. If the buffer is re-written during the read/output cycle, you will get flickering of the display ('writes' to memory disrupt 'reads'... the display adapter has to do the reads on it's schedule and should not be delayed in plucking out the next pixel).
