Notification to iPhone7 INOPERABLE

by houndme2016 » Mon Oct 03, 2016 3:41 pm

I've had Sighthound for years (all same equipment). But I just upgraded to the new iPhone 7 from my iPhone 6 and I do not receive "push" notifications.

Hello houndme2016,

I'm sorry to hear you're having troubles with notifications. We aren't aware of any issues specific to the iPhone 7. If you haven't already, please send us a bug report in Sighthound Video on your computer by going to Help > Report a Problem so we can take a look at your logs. Be sure to include a link to this post so we know it is from you.

Regards,

Same problem here. I submitted a log from the program just now.

Thanks,

Same problem here
I'm on the 14 day trial and really want to get this sorted as it's an important piece of functionality for me.

iPhone 6 running iOS 10.0.2

I set the Push Notifications button to "on" in the app and for a short period of time I receive push notifications for alerts fine while the phone is locked - then they stop completely

If I then open the app the alerts update all at once - then I get the notifications all at once

Is the problem here that the app is not set to "Background Refresh" - as in when the phone goes to sleep it suspends all processing within the app itself and therefore I don't receive push notifications until the app wakes up again by opening it

If I go into the iPhone settings "General>Background App Refresh" I can't see the Sighthound app listed therefore I can't set it to refresh when the phone is locked

Incidentally once notifications have stopped, the only way I can get them working again is to "unregister" and "register" again in the app

I'd like to know the thoughts of the tech team at Sighthound

I reported this issue 12 months ago. When I restore any iphone 4,4s,5,5s,6,6s to a new phone the notifications always stop working in the IOS app, every version. The easy fix is to delete the app and reinstall and it always fixed the issue.

Hello all,

We released a new update today which fixes a known issue in regards to notifications on iOS 10. Please download the latest version of the mobile app and see if you now receive notifications reliably. If you believe you are still experiencing notification issues after the update, please send us a bug report by going to Help > Report a Problem in Sighthound Video no your computer.

Regards,

In follow up to this, the update Devin mentions didn't fix my issue where all notifications had stopped. Only an app deletion and reinstall fixed it for me.
