Slow Playback in search window

by rjm » Wed Aug 24, 2016 6:55 pm

Been trying to trouble shoot for a while now and still get very poor playback performance and CPU is 100%. The resolution from camera to sighthound recording is matched. I tried many different configurations! Files plays fine on other media players and no other tasks running that would bog down the CPU.

Sighthound configuration set up as Hikvision - Other h.264, resolution matched.

Any ideas?

Something doesn't look right in activity monitor. I have two cameras hooked up and in this screen shot I am playing back a event.

1. There are 3 too many process active from what I have read!
2. Am i not supposed to have some "Sighthound Agent" process?
3. CPU pegged @ 100%+ yet 77% idle of total .

Are they any iMac users that can compare?

Thanks

Hello rjm,

I'll do my best to address your concerns:

1) Sighthound Video is a multiprocess application and you can expect about 6 processes plus one for each camera, though it can be more depending on what features you have enabled. If you are concerned that you may have stray processes running you can always reboot your system.

2) The name of the processes can slightly vary from Mac to Windows.

3) The % CPU shows the percentage of CPU capability used by each process. For numbers on the CPU load you should look at the graph at the bottom with the System, User, and Idle. (see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201464)

I'd be happy to check your logs for anything unusual if you could submit a bug report by going to Help > Report a Problem. Be sure to include a link to this post so we know it is from you.

Regards,

-Devin
