Add Evocam Webcam As Camera?

by tikilab » Fri Aug 12, 2016 12:44 am

My neighbor uses Evocam to view our shared driveway. She's offered to let me access her feed (we're good friends like that). She's given me a URL and a username/password combination. Can I add this as a Sighthound camera? I tried:

Camera type: "Network (IP) camera"
Manufacturer: "Other"
"Manually specify the address of a network camera"
And I entered the correct IP address, port, and stream path, using http.

But all I get is the "Could not connect" screen. I can view the camera in my browser.

Is it simply not possible to use a webcam feed like this with Sighthound? It seems like it should work…

Hello tikilab,

Thanks for your interest in Sighthound Video. I looked in to Evocam and it appears to be an app that allows you to restream video over the internet. Depending on the type of URL she gave you we should be able to figure out how to connect. If you could post the URL here or in an email to [email protected] I'll be happy to provide directions on how to connect.

Regards,

-Devin

Just in case anyone else out there wants to know the outcome, basically I was told that there is no way to connect the camera this way.
