Need a recommendation for cameras

by ArieArie » Mon Jul 25, 2016 1:41 pm

I am replacing 3 of my cameras (Old Foscam).
I like Foscam because I am familiar with their UI and they served me well for years.

I was looking for some new Foscam cameras and I noticed that something changed with the company, and I'm not sure that they are still in business.

Can someone recommend some cameras that are supported my Sighthound:

- outdoor
- 720P or better
- WiFi (N)
- 2 bullet style and 1 PT
- Wide angle
- Good IR
- around $120 each
- relatively new model, not older than a year or two

If someone here uses a similar camera that they like, please let me know.

Thanks!

Arie

Looking for the same. An outdoor camera, preferably with pan/tilt. If you found one that you like and works let me know please.

Hikvision Bullet Cams

These Hikvision Bullet Cams have been really good for me and image quality is amazing on Sighthound Pro for the price. The ones listed in the link below are for long range. I have the wide view version. I've got 6 connected outside and the Hikevision Cube wireless inside the front door pointed out the front window. The Cube wireless is not weatherproof. I'd say the quality on the Hikvision Bullet 3MP Cams are as good as any of my higher end cams costing 3-4 x as much. Night vision is ok and works better with additional IR light source. They are hard to beat for the price. Make sure you get the American version or you will need to go in their software and change the IP address to match American standard IP addresses. It also required Windows software for proper installation initially and now I can make adjustments with their web software using Mac.

I have been really happy with these Amcrest 3MP Bullet. In addition to a few dome from HIK vision, I have 3 of these bullet cameras installed outdoors and have been super happy with the performance. Can't beat the performance for the price and the build quality is professional and heavy duty. It mounts with three screws and a rubber gasket on the mount plate. I prefer to additionally make use of some silicone sealer to be sure.
