Trendnet TV-IP321PI can.t connect

by jnowski » Sun Jul 17, 2016 11:02 pm

I have a Trendnet TV-IP321PI that I have been trying to connect for the last 3 days. I've tried all the suggestions that are on the SH website with no luck. Can I get some help please?

Hello jnowski,

I'm sorry to hear you're having troubles connecting this Trendnet camera. I'd be happy to assist you further if you could send us a bug report so we can take a look at your logs. You can send the bug report by going to Help > Report a Problem. Be sure to include a link to this post so we know it is from you.

In the report it would also be good to know the following:

* Is the camera connected to the network over WiFi or is it wired?

* Have you had success connecting to this camera in any other software or using a web browser?

Regards,

-Devin

I had also contacted trendnet support and they sent me this
url: http://ip address/Streaming/channels/1/httpPreview

This worked for me when I set up SH for the camera manually.

In answer to you questions:

The camera is on a wired gigabit network with an IP address reservation (static IP)
The camera could be viewed with IE 11 (WIN-7 64bit), and ISpy (open source software)

BTW - the camera was detected by SH as an ONVIF camera, but wouldn't connect that way either.

Best regards,

This procedure may work for you - I finally had success with TRENDnet 311 this way

I'm assuming your camera is similar, otherwise this wont make sense.

1.) first , go into the camera's settings. Go to Advanced:Video:Video format. Observe the two sets of parameters - one for the main stream, one for the sub stream. You will be using the sub stream at first. Ensure it's set to mjpeg. Turn the resolution down to 320x240, for now. Video Quality = medium is fine, for now.

2.) on SH, Setup a new camera: Camera Type: Network(ip) camera, Manufacturer: OTHER (dont select TRENDnet - never got those to work)

3.) manually enter IP address (obviously, make sure your LAN is in order and you have connectivity - sounds like you do)

4.) Enter the stream path: Streaming/channels/1/httpPreview

4.a) later if you get it to work, you can try this one too: Streaming/channels/2/httpPreview (I believe the deal is one is the "main stream" and the other is the "substream" and you can change the settings on those in the camera's web config. )

5.) put in the username and password. Try the admin one (i had trouble getting the non-admin one to work but maybe you can)

6.) Select Scale video to: QVGA (320x240) -> same as the camera video format

that worked for me. Then you can go back to camera settings and try turning up the resolution and also telling SH to "match source" for scaling. For some reason, some combinations wouldn't work for me - camera would not connect. Eventually i was able to get things to work - I switched to what i think the mainstream URL is (channel 2) and things are good now.

(I still dont know one thing: Does SH require mjpeg or can it also work on H.264? because on my trendnet, the mainstream is only H.264, and the substream cannot do full HD)

hope this helps
