Face and specific object recognition?

by champagne » Mon May 23, 2016 12:41 pm

Since you already have the technology in Sighthound cloud, why not add the face recognition to the Mac OS X app? It may be cpu or gnu intensive but I would think that would be a great add-on and a way to encourage people to upgrade to a pro version?

Would love to see car recognition as well - I have one of my cameras pointing at the driveway, would be great when it's not one of my cars that enter the driveway and get an alert.

Ability to tag foreign objects that sighthound recognizes but does not know what they are would be great as well. (I have issues with deers jumping my fence, would be great to get a "deer alert"...)

thanks!

+1. Getting a lot of false alerts at night where headlight from other cars reflecting off my car is recognized as a person or unknown object.

It has been very disappointing to only see two minor fixed in December and February. I'm paying for an annual subscription with hope that Sighthound would be better than VitaminD in regard of supporting it. I think it is a great product but they are focusing on the cloud with little attention of releasing something new with the video app. I'm dropping my renew this year if I do not see any more features like the one you have mentioned. I would love to see face and car recognition in this product as well. Great product, I'm part of a home automation forum and I suggest always this product to them, I guess not anymore since there is no effort to make it better.

Concur with alphatec. I'm dropping my annual sub too upon expiration. Development has slowed, and we still haven't seen the most basic of feature requests implemented. I'm honestly concerned about the long term viability of this product. My patience is about gone, and I'm looking at alternatives now.

I am currently evaluating this product against Zoneminder, BlueIris and buying a NVR and I am not sure what you guys meant by not renewing subscription? I thought this product is a one time license of $250 and the annual fee is for "support" which I assumed is like email/phone support?

Licenses are valid for live and have no annual fee. The annual Support and Upgrade Subscription is entirely optional and gives you access to email support and major version upgrades. If you choose to not renew you can still run the current major version of Sighthound Video and will receive all updates for that version. If the next major version comes out while your subscription is expired you would need to bring the subscription back up to date in order to receive the new major version.

As for development - we are still working on Sighthound Video and have a number of exciting features on the way. These changes have a fairly large impact on how Sighthound runs thus requiring additional testing and development time.

More details on the subscription can be found at https://www.sighthound.com/support/abou ... scriptions

To be honest with you I'm concern that you release around December or even January to trick people to subscribe again and after that you do not release another one until the following December of that year. I guess we need to wait and see.

I agree this sounds bad BUT their subscription service runs from the date of sale...

Subscriptions run for 12 month periods from the date of your purchase
