sighthound sometimes changes it mind after an email alert

by bebop » Sat May 21, 2016 4:36 am

Sometimes I get an email alert for a certain rule, eg, 'person walking on lawn', but when I log in to sighthound, there is no video for that alert. I will find a clip that matches the time/date with something moving, but no longer triggering the said rule.

Is sighhound being too quick to send out emails, and later changes its mind ?

This is the exact issue I'm having as well. I get the email alert, a clip is stored to my storage drive (as defined by the rule)...but when I later review SightHound, no clip exists. I think you hit the nail on the head by speculating that SightHound issues the alert immediately, but upon further review decides the video activity doesn't completely fulfill the rule guidelines.

The problematic camera/rule has a specific region of interest, a delay associated with it, and only looks for people in the region of interest. The camera does see a lot of motion outside my region of interest and I receive an email with a still image of the activity, which is obviously outside my region of interest.

I'm hoping that the next release of SightHound (4.0) will resolve this.
