Optimal settings for 720P H.264 stream

by crc2004 » Sat Apr 16, 2016 1:50 pm

I have a few Hikvision ds-2cd2032 3mp IP cameras and need advice on optimal performance settings for a 720P stream. I'm running 8 of these cameras on a mac mini 2011 with a SSD and performance is pretty good but I'd still like to optimize it as best as I can to work with Sighthound person detection. I've attached how I currently have the cameras configured in a screen shot. I'm a newbie so any advice is appreciated. See my attached images. thanks

Hello crc2004,

If 720 is your desired resolution and you aren't experiencing bandwidth issues, I'd say those settings look good. Note that resolutions higher than 320x240 will not yield more accuracy with tracking and recognition, so if you need to save on bandwidth and/or disk space you may want to consider lowering the resolution.

I'd recommend taking a look at this support article if you haven't already: https://www.sighthound.com/support/tips ... ecognition

Regards,

-Devin
