Transfered to a new computer, cant connect to cameras

by ropedrag » Sun Mar 06, 2016 6:15 pm

Running with 2 Hikvision cameras for some time now with "decent success" and thinking about adding 2 or 3 more. Used this an an excuse to replace my aging iMac with a new one.

On the new iMac I can not get sighhound connection to the cameras. Wont let me past the camera set up log in screen, just like, topic12325

Royal pain, as while I can log into the cameras via Hikvision/IP address apparently neither Safari nor Firefox plugins are supported to view live stream any longer WTF, (new computers are awesome Whoohoo) resulted in me firing up my Synology NAS with Surveillance Station 7.1 just to confirm what I already knew.... cameras are working just fine. So I've now connected through two sources to confirm user name and passwords are correct and functioning and visually through one source to confirm video feed is functioning. What now?

Sighthound license appears to have been transferred correctly to new download on new iMac and no other changes to router, switches, etc...

To add insult to injury after re-installing sighthound to double check it all. I spent yet more time poking around. Went to preferences, to set up remote access, used same port as before and tried a couple others. Never got an external address for some reason (I have suspicions) but Firefox sure as hell did not want to open the Local or Internal sites "Your Connection Is Not Secure" "The owner of (ip address) has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website". Lovely. Have to wonder if this is related to not being able to connect to the cameras through sighthound while I can through other sources?

Could we make this a wee bit harder perhaps?

Hello ropedrag,

I believe we've responded to the email you sent [email protected] already in regards to the camera connection issue.

As for the remote access issue - Sighthound Video 3 supports https exclusively (no http). It creates a local certificate for every install so you will have to accept and store this as an exception by your browser once. The mobile app will similarly prompt you to accept the certificate (you can verify the fingerprint against the remote access configuration dialog) and will warn you if the cert ever changes.

For browser specific details see https://www.sighthound.com/support/how- ... eb-browser

Regards,

-Devin
