Slow loading times on iOS App?

I'm not sure if this is a genuine problem or if the app is just a little slow, but compared to some other apps it feels really slow to view my live camera.

On average it takes about 5secs for the live feed to appear when opening the app, then when clicking onto a camera to view a larger image it takes a further 8 secs. So in total it takes around 13 secs to actually view the camera's live feed. By this time the person at my door has walked away.

Any ideas if this is normal or is there something going on with my network?

I have tried to reinstall Sighthound and there has been no change.

Sighthound is running on a 16core Xenon CPU with 112GB or RAM on a standard HDD.

Hello terryharman,

While there is some built in delay with any type of streaming, it certainly shouldn't take 13 seconds. There are several factors which could affect the amount of time it takes before you are able to view the camera live view. In the recent update we added a feature which allows you to change the bit rate of the live stream and clip streams. I'd recommend changing these settings to a lower bitrate and see if this improves the delay. You can find this setting in Sighthound Video by going to Tools > Options > Remote Access > Advanced (Windows) or Sighthound Video > Preferences > Remote Access > Advanced (Mac).

I have sent an e-mail into support with a video. I have adjusted the stream quality as you suggested.

Same here, I'm running the app on an iMac 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5 with 16 GB of RAM with 4 cameras and it is REALLY slow to load the streams remotely on an iPhone.

I have also reduced the bit rate to .5 Mbps but that didn't help much.
