Recommended specs

Hello,
I know every configuration is different, but what are some general guidelines when building a Sighthound system? It seems to be extremely CPU intensive, more so than other DVR apps. Running the test install on a i7-3740QM (2.7Ghz) with SSD disk and 8GB RAM I'm seeing 60%-70% CPU usage. This is with 1x 3MP 8fps ~6Mbps H264 and 1x 5MP 8fps ~8.5Mbps H264
My finished system will include 6x 3MP cameras - 8fps and 2x 5MP cameras - 8fps

Thinking I'll need to go up to the server class Xeon CPU for that. Any thoughts or guidelines? Are there any performance tuning settings available or even a hardware decoder card? Is it possible to monitor the substream but record the main stream?

Thanks!
-Jeremy

I don't think your cpu will be able to but I also don't think you need a xeon to do it. I have a i7-4930k with nine 3mp cameras at 25 fps and it runs at about 70 to 80% cpu
