I have Sighthound 3.0.1 (build 15986) running on OS X Yosemite (10.10.5) on a Late 2014 Mac mini (2.6 Ghz i5, 8GB ram), monitoring 10 Foscam IP cameras - five I9805E units and five C1s. Recently, over the last month or so since upgrading to 3.0 and adding the lastest 2-3 cameras, I'm seeing it crash somewhat frequently (every other day or so?).
Two questions:
- are others seeing more crashing recently with similar configurations?
- is there any way to have Sighthound automatically restart after it crashes?
Since I have it running on a dedicated machine (with no other apps in use) in a mechanical room, I usually only notice that it has crashed after several hours to days later when I realize I haven't received notifications of movement in the cameras. Usually, it's just Sighthound that's crashed, but occasionally the Mac mini itself has crashed and lost power (where I have to manually restart it, even though in the System Settings it's set to restart after a power failure - it's also on a UPS and we have a backup power generator so it shouldn't ever lose power, even temporarily).
I thought about trying to figure out an AppleScript that would monitor the log files and if they haven't updated recently, then restart the machine. That seems a bit extreme. I tried installing Lingon which is supposed to be able to track an Application and restart it if it crashes but I haven't noticed if it's actually working (had the entire machine turn off earlier today).
Any thoughts folks?
