Constant disconnection with Escam QD300

by AbbaTheHorse » Fri Jan 15, 2016 11:42 am

Hi there

I have been running Vitamin D/Sighthound for quite a long time now and everything has always worked great.

I recently replaced one of my cameras with an Escam QD300 which connects and works fine with Sighthound 3.0.1... but only for 2 days maximum before it loses connection. The camera is still live and I can connect directly to it via my browser, it just seems that Sighthound loses it. I can get it back again by simply editing the camera and then clicking Next on all the settings. It then connects again and works for roughly 2 days before disconnecting again.

The camera is wired to a powerline adapter and the PC running Sighthound is wired to a switch connected to my router. The powerline adapter seems fine but I have tried another one as a test, but the problem still persists.

Is there anyway I can tell what's causing the drop out? I upgraded to SH 3.0.1 from 2.5.x to see if this might fix the issue, but 2.5.x exhibited the same problem.

Looking at the logs, it dropped out just after lunch today (username and password obscured):

I've had the same issue on a system I set up for a family member.

He's using a amovision camera which is wired using a powerline, same symptoms and have been remedied by editing the camera and hitting next as you describe.

I've been baffled by it and was hoping the upgrade was going to fix it.

The Mac is connected via wifi, I'm heading over there later to connect the Mac to the same powerline port as the camera and to upgrade the software.

I will update with any results.

I've had a response from SH support who say an engineer is looking into why I and other users are having disconnection issues.

Hopefully it's something they can resolve quickly!
