Large (70+) installation?

by GenePlaza » Fri Nov 13, 2015 12:01 am

Looking to replace old analog system with HD IP system, approximately 60-70 cameras. Will SightHound Pro handle?

If not, will Enterprise work? Estimate on availability?

Other ideas?

Hi Gene,

While some people have done 30/40 camera installations with Sighthound Video on a single purpose-built machine you would probably have a challenge getting to 70. In additions to CPU constraints you will quickly start encountering I/O capacity issues with hard drives for instance.

You're welcome to download the application which includes a Pro Trial and see if it meets your needs. There isn't currently a way to link separate Pro installations, though we'd like to do this with an enterprise version in the future.

Best,

Hello Ryan - thanks for the reply. Understand about CPU limitations as well as the I/O issue of HDD's -makes sense.

If we were to split into multiple systems (e.g. - 20 cameras per system), would that seem more feasible?

Assuming answer is yes, when Enterprise version arrives, would it be possible to combine the multiple PRO versions into one?

Regards,
Gene

Hi Gene,

20 camera systems are certainly within the realm of possibility if this separation is not an issue. If you have any available systems available I would encourage you to download Sighthound Video and try the free trial to see if it meets your needs.

Because it does not yet exist I can't pretend to be certain about the upgrade path of Pro licenses to the enterprise product, but I imagine we'll do all we can to support any such transitions, just as we have done with previous migrations.
