Axis video encoder P7214?

by Pete » Fri Oct 09, 2015 4:52 pm

I have several Axis P7214 video encoders for use with my best Bosch PTZ cams. I see in your ad copy that many Axis encoders should work. I downloaded your trial version to see if your software would play nice with the Axis encoders but so far I cannot find a way for them to find one another. Can you suggest how I can do this? I need this to work if I am to buy your multi-cam licenses. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Pete,

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues configuring these encoders. I checked with the Axis user manual and found the stream settings needed. In the camera setup please select "Other IP Camera" from the "Camera type" drop-list and use the following:

Protocol: rtsp
Port: <leave blank>
Stream Path: /axis-media/media.amp

I've attached an example of how this should look once entered. If you do not know the IP address of your encoder please see this article for directions on how to find it: https://www.sighthound.com/support/how- ... -my-camera

Hi Devin:

Many thanks for your help with this. I followed your instructions and in doing so was able to get the first cameras to show up in Sighthound but since the Axis encoder accommodates 4 cameras I cannot figure out how to view or setup the other 3. I don't see any choices for setting up the other 3 either. Is there an additional command that needs to be added to the end of that line, like "Cam-1", "Cam-2", etc. or something like that? Also, can you tell me how to find PTZ control in Sighthound? I have been testing one IP PTZ cam that loads just fine but I cannot seem to find any control for it.

Thanks again for your help.

Pete

Hi Pete,

I did some more searching and found that several other Axis encoders use the following at the end of the stream paths: "?camera=1", "?camera=2", etc...

Please try adding this to the end of the stream path for each camera as such: "/axis-media/media.amp?camera=X" and substitute X for the camera number. Additionally the manual indicates that you can configure your streams on the configuration web page for the encoder. These pages may contain the stream url information needed.

Regards,

-Devin
