Viewing Recorded Footage

by chorley_fitness » Wed Sep 23, 2015 6:20 am

Hi All,

Probably a stupid questions for people in the know but once footage has been recorded and sent to the designated file, when you try to view it, its in mp4 format which isnt recognised and comes up with

'to open this file windows needs to know what program created it, windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select it from a list of programs on your computer'

If you look soundhound up which file do you select? Or is there a different way to view the footage?

Thankyou!

Hi,

I suspect you may be on Windows XP? Which shipped with virtually no codec/format support. .mp4 files are a very standard container format, and the video is encoded in h264. These should play in any media player, including VLC, Quicktime, and Windows Media Player with h264 codec support installed.

As a side note, hopefully you are only trying to view exported clips. Files within the data directory often do not directly correspond to the concept of 'clips' as they are shown in the application and are not organized in a manner designed to be viewed by users.

VLC - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html
Quicktime - https://support.apple.com/kb/DL837

Best,
