"Application Could Not Be Started" error message

by bbarker1989 » Fri Sep 11, 2015 10:58 am

I'm having an issue where Sighthound is failing to start following a server reboot. I performed the server reboot to resolve an issue with the web application not responding but now the software itself will not load.

I've got a total of 14 cameras interfacing with the Sighthound server. The server itself has 32 GB RAM and is running a Xeon E5-2620 processor.

Sighthound has been running correctly up until today and no matter what I do on the server I can't get the program to load. There are no other services or applications running on that server other than Windows services and I verified that the processor and RAM utilization were low before I attempted to start Sighthound.

I've got each camera set to 640x480 resolution recording at 15 frames per second, which shouldn't cause that extreme of an impact in server resources. What should I do to try and resolve this startup issue?

Hi bbarker1989,

This message usually indicates that the system was low on resources and Sighthound Video is taking longer than usual to start. When you receive this message Sighthound will continue to launch its processes and you should be able to open it after a few minutes. This most commonly happens at the system startup. At system start the OS is launching several processes and applications and the CPU is receiving a lot of requests. This means that doing something like launching Sighthound Video will take longer to start up as there is less CPU available. Have you tried waiting several minutes to see if it will launch?

I'd be happy to take a look at your logs for anything unusual if you could send us a bug report by going to Help > Report a Problem if you are able to launch it. If you are unable to open Sighthound at all you can zip up the logs folder located in the Sighthound Video data directory (see https://www.sighthound.com/support/wher ... store-data) and email them to [email protected]. Be sure to link to this forum post so we know it is you.

Regards,

-Devin
