Activate different rule based on external input?

I have a number of PTZ cameras that will move to different set points based on motion sensors, perimeter laser photobeams, and motion detection of yet other cameras. I send http requests to the cameras from my home automation to move their location.

I'd like to be able to add a rule for each location and activate that rule externally when I move the camera. Is there a public API that I could access through an http request to activate a rule for a camera?

We do not currently have a public API, though this is something we would love to add in the future.
