Hi 105437,
As mentioned above remote access currently communicates over HTTP. HTTP is not an encrypted protocol. We have plans to introduce HTTPS support in a future update.
All remote access traffic is direct from your client to your Sighthound Video server. None is routed through any Sighthound properties, which makes enabling HTTPS a bit trickier. This is why, for example, you must explicitly open a port in your router/firewall if you'd like to allow access outside your network - your videos do not go through our infrastructure to be re-broadcast, we have no access to your data. It also means, among other things, that we can't simply embed our trusted SSL certificates in the application for the web server there to host, as they could be extracted and maliciously used. The challenges are not insurmountable and it is something we are working on.
Best,
- ryan
