Over running storage settings

by claystorm » Tue May 19, 2015 9:06 pm

So my Sighthound install has been over running the storage limits I've set in the program. This also seems to be a new issue, as I've had Sighthound (and before Vit D) running for years now with no issue.

I have 5 cameras in Sighthound with the following settings:

For clips and temporary video, use up to: 500 GB
Temporarily keep all video for up to: 168 Hours (7 days), this had been 336 Hours (14 days), but I lowered it.
Video is stored on: Remote Drive (V:) (This is a network share on our NAS)

At present the "Archive" folder on Remote Drive (V:) is sitting at 2.30 TB! I've tried lowering the settings (went from Temp video at 336 Hours to 168 Hours with no change) and now have lowered all storage to 400 GB, with no change. This is frustrating, as our 5.5 TB NAS which is also what we backup up our servers to nightly is now sitting at 99% full, when it should only be sitting around 56% full.

I've had to resort to manually going back and removing old video so that our NAS won't fill up completely. This is very frustrating, as when I make a storage change in settings, there is no progress bar or anything to tell me it's complying with my instructions.

Hi claystorm,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. You certainly should not be seeing more than 500GB of video from Sighthound with the settings you described. I'd be happy to take a look at your logs if you could submit a bug report by going to Help > Report a Problem. Be sure to link to this forum post so we know it is you.

Regards,

-Devin
